Have a 2013 Dual core with an SSD and about a year ago the SSD started playing up. Had the Battery and SSD replaced and the performance increase was unbelievable.
Maybe obvious to many others but kept on getting high CPU for no obvious reason when lightly using the MAC, tracked it down to a cluttered desktop, cleaned it up and the performance benefit is unreal.

I’ve changed the batteries in multiple MacBooks. They’re easy to do, the hardest bit is scraping the glued in tape out when removing the old battery.
1000 cycles is low though, my 2014 pro had a replacement battery at 3500 cycles and the new one got up to 2500 before I replaced it with a new M1 MacBook
